CLASS 1 BEST TURNED OUT – judged on the turnout of the pony, tack, rider.

CLASS 2 LEADING REIN – 12.2hh under, riders 8 yrs and under, to be shown in a snaffle bit, with lead rein attached to the noseband.
 CLASS 3 FIRST RIDDEN – 12.2hh under, rider to be 10 yrs and under, to be shown in a snaffle bit.

CLASS 4 PONY CLUB TYPE – To be ridden by a recognised Pony Club member.

CLASS 5 COLOURED HORSE OR PONY – Ridden & in hand. If there are sufficient entries the class will be split.

CLASS 6 VETERAN HORSE OR PONY – To be 15 years and over. Ridden & in hand. If there are sufficient entries the class will be split.
 CLASS 7 EX RACEHORSE - ridden and in hand. 4 yrs old & over. If there are sufficient entries the class will be split.

CLASS 8 COBS - If there are sufficient entries the class will be split.

CLASS 9 RIDING HORSE OR PONY/HACK - any height. If there are sufficient entries the class will be split.

CLASS 14 NOVICE WORKING HUNTER HORSE/COB - exceeding 148cm. Snaffle bridle.
CLASS 15 OPEN WORKING HUNTER PONY – not to exceed 153cm.
CLASS 16 OPEN WORKING HUNTER HORSE/COB – exceeding 148cm.

Trophies awarded to winners of all classes. Championship first prize winners from classes 10 to 16. Champion to go forward to the Supreme Championship in Ring 1.

BRENDON SHOW SUPREME CHAMPIONSHIP IN RING 1
Trophies to the Supreme Champion in Show, Best Local Pony (Brendon and District area), - to include Showing Classes Champion, Mountain & Moorland Champion, Working Hunter Champion and MEPBG Exmoor Pony Show Supreme Champion. 
Prizes: £50 to the Supreme Champion and £25 to the Reserve Supreme Champion.

CLASS 17 NOVICE HORSE/PONY 2”3 - Not to have won a first prize. Open to all ages and heights.

CLASS 18 OPEN JUMPING 2”3 - Open to all ages and heights. 

CLASS 19 NOVICE COMBINATION 2”6 - Not to have won a first prize in any show jumping competition at this height or above. Open to all ages and heights.

CLASS 20 PONY 14.2 & UNDER. RIDER ANY AGE 2”6 - Incorporating Tarka Qualifier, for which the rider must be 16yrs and under on the day of ND Show. 

CLASS 21 OPEN JUMPING 2”6 - Open to all ages and heights. 

CLASS 22 OPEN JUMPING 2”9 - Incorporating Taw & Torridge Qualifier for which the horse must be over 14.2hh, rider any age. Open to all ages and heights. 

CLASS 23 OPEN JUMPING 3” – Open to all ages and heights

TARKA AND TAW AND TORRIDGE QUALIFIERS: Top 6 in classes 21 & 23 who have not yet qualified will be eligible to go forward to these classes at the N.D show in August 2018. Riders may enter both classes but can only qualify for 1, and are to be resident from within the Agricultural society’s “local Area” which includes all the parishes in North Devon and Torridge district council Areas. 

THE MARSHALL CHALLENGE SHEILD - For best rider under 16yrs, residing in the Devon and Somerset Staghounds, and the Exmoor Foxhounds hunt district, in classes 17-23, to be held for 12 months.

This will be available in an adjacent ring. Entry Fee £2.00.

Rules: Exmoor ponies - Open to all Exmoor ponies registered with the Exmoor Pony Society, or registered/passported elsewhere - ie, they can be pedigree-registered, Section-X registered, Heritage-registered, purebred or Exmoor Type, etc. Please check the various classes to ensure correct entry category. Ponies will be judged according to the Exmoor pony breed standard and the judge’s decision is final. Bitless bridles, head collars and halters are allowed. No spurs. Please also see the general rules of Brendon Show.

Prizes: There will be rosettes awarded to sixth place. Trophies for the various Champions.

EXMOOR PONY IN HAND CLASSES 
Class 3 - Unhandled Exmoor Ponies - suitable stock to be shown in their secure pens and judged from outside. Mares and foals, youngstock and other ponies that people would prefer to exhibit in a pen. Entries in advance only by 7 August. Please contact Mrs Maria Floyd to discuss the logistics of entering this class. The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry to this class at any time. The MEPBG (established in Jan 2014) is a collaboration of Exmoor farming families and land owners safeguarding the pedigree and purebred Exmoor ponies of Exmoor National Park, improve breeding practices and management, promotion, marketing, handling and opportunities for the ponies. Exmoor ponies make fantastic conservation grazers, performance and family ponies for adults as well as children. Living and breeding on Exmoor enables the ponies to retain their desired True Moorland Type. Open but with rosettes to highest Novice in each class. Novice is any sheep that has not been placed or won at any show.

RULES OF BRENDON SHOWGROUND 

1. The Judge’s decision is final. 
2. No galloping and disorderly behaviour allowed.
 3. Horse and pony judging will begin at 10am sharp, classes will carry on from there.
 4. Dog judging will begin at 12 noon sharp, classes will carry on from there.
 5. Anyone lodging an objection must deposit £20.00 with the secretary. This must be done within 20 minutes of the incident. The deposit will be returned if the objection is upheld. 
6. The Committee will not be held responsible for any loss or damage to any person, property or exhibit by accident or otherwise. 
 7. All prize-winners must collect and sign for the cups in the secretary horsebox before leaving the show. All cups must be engraved and returned to the show the following year, clean and tidy and ready to be presented.
 8. Hard hats must be worn at all times when mounted. No whips or spurs to be worn in the Gymkhana events. Bitless bridles will allowed in all horse and pony classes.
 9. No horse or pony under the age of 4 years to be exhibited under saddle. 
10. All dogs must be kept on leads at all times. 
11. Disclaimer: The organiser has taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents and must obey the instructions of the organiser and all the officials and stewards.
