Two articles in Horse & Hound magazine - 16 Feb 2017 and 16 March 2017 draw attention to the continued rejection of Exmoor pony foals for colour of sole plate, which is causing serious concern amongst moorland breeders regarding eradication of important Exmoor pony bloodlines predisposed to paler sole plates. This is not specified in the Exmoor Pony Society inspection criteria, which only states 'no white markings'.
