25 Aug - Exmoor Pony WorkshopList Item 3
Connecting with Exmoor Ponies - Afternoon Workshop 2pm-5pm.
Exmoor ponies have evolved living wild and free on the moors of Exmoor and as a result, are strong, intelligent and independent thinking. They can teach us a lot about how ponies think and learn - and what they want. In this afternoon workshop, we’ll explore some of the body language we use to connect, communicate and build trust and understanding with the ponies; how they like to live in herds; and what kind of care and management keeps them happy and healthy. An opportunity to discover more about this fascinating ancient native pony breed - and ourselves. This is a tutorial/demo workshop so no pony handling is necessary. Suitable for both pony owners and animal lovers generally.
(Dawn Westcott is co-founder of the Exmoor Pony Project, author of the Wild Pony Whispering books, and twice world champion in International Horse Agility with wild-born Exmoor stallion Bear.)
Format: Talk, practical demo, discussion.
